The brainchild of Caleb Scofield (Cave In, Old Man Gloom), ZOZOBRA formed in 2006 and quickly released two crushing full-lengths of atmospheric sludge metal, Harmonic Tremors (2007) and Bird of Prey (2008).   Now five years later, the band has re-emerged with Savage Masters, their most aggressive and straightforward release to date.  Bursting out the gate with a bold, determined purpose, Savage Masters is an unrelenting fury of post-hardcore ferocity and sludge-tinged amplifier crunch.  This release, featuring long-time Cave In bandmates Adam McGrath (guitars) and J.R. Conners (drums), proves once and for all that ZOZOBRA are a veritable force to be reckoned with.  Savage Masters was produced and recorded by Andrew Schneider (Unsane, Pelican) and contains stunning artwork by English alchemist Glyn Smyth (Unearthly Trance, Wolves in the Throne Room, Cough).

These shows will be KOWLOON WALLED CITY’s first East Coast dates since the release of their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Container Ships, which was recently repressed on gray and black vinyl after selling out in less than a month. The second press is shipping now and available for purchase here.  ZOZOBRA will be touring in support of their first release in almost five years, set to drop this April via Brutal Panda, with album details forthcoming. Support on the run will be provided by a different set of regional bands each night.

Brutal Panda Records is proud to announce that Pacific Northwest rock crew HARKONEN will reunite to play three exclusive east coast shows this June.  These special events are a series of Brutal Panda label showcases that also include THE ATLAS MOTH and WHORES on all dates.  The shows will take place, starting June 14^th, in Boston, Brooklyn and Philadelphia, with the Brooklyn show being a part of the Northside Festival.  Each show will also feature a special guest on the bill including ZOZOBRA, LADDER DEVILS and FIGHT AMP.  The complete listing of dates and ticket info is available below the fold.

HARKONEN guitarist/vocalist Ben Verellen had this to say about the band’s first east cost shows in almost a decade:

“The last time Harkonen was on the east coast, I think Matt had a broken wrist, so Casey and I toured out with a CD of matt playing drums through a bunch of amps.  Last time Harkonen tried to fly anywhere to do a show, the plane had a malfunction and almost went down.  It’s been about 10 years since all that and I’m hoping the curse has lifted.  Bout to find out!”

Additionally, a limited new vinyl repress of HARKONEN’s seminal album Shake Harder Boy will be pressed exclusively for these shows.

The band has quickly become known for their intense live shows, which they plan to bring across North America early next year.  WHORES guitarist/vocalist Christian Lembach commented on the band’s forthcoming release:
