Boyfrndz Announce New LP ‘Breeder’

Austin, TX psych/math rockers BOYFRNDZ have premiered the first single from their upcoming second album entitled Breeder.  Listen to the song “Each Others” via Noisey who describe it as “celestial spacey rock territory a la The Mars Volta” HEREBreeder was recorded in late 2013 at Cacophony Recorders with producer / engineer Erik Wofford (THE BLACK ANGELS, WHITE DENIM) and is set for release on vinyl and digital formats via Brutal Panda Records on April 1st.  Physical pre-orders are available HERE while digital pre-orders are available HERE.

Wild Throne Announce Debut EP

Bellingham, WA progressive rock/metal trio WILD THRONE (formerly known as Dog Shredder) emerge with Blood Maker, the debut EP under their new moniker.  A mind bending amalgamation of progressive rock, metal, jazzy syncopations and swirling melodies, Blood Maker was recorded this past Spring with legendary producer Ross Robinson (At The Drive In, Glassjaw, Machine Head).  The album is set for release via Brutal Panda Records on March 4th via limited edition LP and digital download.

A preview of the album’s cover art designed by Orion Landau (Red Fang, Inter Arma) in addition to LP pre-orders can be viewed HERE with digital pre-orders available HERE.  The music video for the EP’s first single, “Shadow Deserts” can be viewed HERE .  The 12″ EP is limited to 500 copies (400 black, 100 red) with a limited number of test presses also available.

Kowloon Walled City / Batillus Announce Split 7″

San Francisco’s KOWLOON WALLED CITY and Brooklyn’s BATILLUS have teamed up for a split 7″ of cover songs as part of the the third release in Brutal Panda Records’ split 7″ series.  Recorded at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, CA and mixed by Scott Evans at Antisleep, the split features KWC playing a cover of the Godflesh classic “Anthem” with Fade Kainer of BATILLUS on vocals.  Side B features BATILLUS covering Ministry’s “Lava” with Scott Evans of KWC on vocals.  Stream the KWC track via Stereogum here.   Stream the BATILLUS track via MetalSucks here.

The split is limited to 500 copies (400 black, 100 pink) and will be officially released on December 10th and is available for pre-order here.  The record is beautifully packaged with a fold-over jacket featuring letterpress printing on 100-weight French paper.

Whores Release New Album ‘Clean’

a2647720346_10Atlanta, GA’s bastards of noise rock, Whores, have revealed the album details behind their highly anticipated sophomore release entitled Clean. Recorded with Ryan Boesch (Melvins, Helmet, Tomahawk, Fu Manchu) at Parhelion Recording Studios, Clean was released in October on 12″ vinyl / digital formats via Brutal Panda Records.  The lead track from the record “Baby Bird”, is currently available for streaming via Invisible Oranges here while the record can be ordered here.  Additionally, Whores’ debut Ruiner has been repressed on vinyl and is available at this location.

7″ Subscription Series Announced!

**Please note that this series is sold out but each title will be avaiable for individual order**  Brutal Panda Records is proud to announce their first ever vinyl subscription series.  The label will be releasing four split 7″s every couple of months throughout 2013 and featuring Black Tusk, Fight Amp, Kowloon Walled City, Helms Alee, Ladder Devils, Rabbits, Whores and Batillus.  The series is kicking off with a new repress of the long out of print Black Tusk / Fight Amp split featuring artwork from Baroness frontman John Baizley.  Each additional split will contain brand new and exclusive tracks from the aforementioned bands with details on the second title to be released shortly.

The series will be limited to 100 subscribers who will receive a special vinyl color for each release in addition to the chance at winning a test press of one of the titles.  The subscription is currently available for purchase at this location while the Black Tusk / Fight Amp split is available for order here with the Fight Amp side streaming here.

ZOZOBRA – New Album ‘Savage Masters’ Now Available!

Boston, MA’s ZOZOBRA have released their long awaited new album Savage Masters on LP/Digital via Brutal Panda Records.The brainchild of Caleb Scofield (Cave In, Old Man Gloom), ZOZOBRA formed in 2006 and quickly released two crushing full-lengths of atmospheric sludge metal, Harmonic Tremors (2007) and Bird of Prey (2008).   Now five years later, the band has re-emerged with Savage Masters, their most aggressive and straightforward release to date.  Bursting out the gate with a bold, determined purpose, Savage Masters is an unrelenting fury of post-hardcore ferocity and sludge-tinged amplifier crunch.  This release, featuring long-time Cave In bandmates Adam McGrath (guitars) and J.R. Kowloon Walled City – ‘Container Ships’ Sees 12″ Vinyl Release

San Francisco’s KOWLOON WALLED CITY have released their much anticipated sophomore album, Container Ships,  via Brutal Panda Records. Their first record in three years was recorded at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, CA, this past August with guitarist/vocalist Scott Evans handling the production duties.  Led by poignant guitar melodies soaked in malaise and a powerful rhythm section, Container Ships flawlessly combines elements of sludge, post-rock and indie rock to create a truly unforgettable, heavy as an oil tanker, listening experience.  The entire album can be streamed via Bandcamp here and is available for purchase here.  A complete tracklisting is included below.

Norska – Self-Titled Debut Sees 12″ Vinyl Release

Portland, OR doom / sludge titans NORSKA (featuring members of YOB) have unleashed their debut release  via Brutal Panda Records.  The 5 song, 40 minute eponymous debut was recorded by Adam Bradley Pike (BLACK ELK, RED FANG) at Toadhouse Studios in the band’s hometown.  Mixing heavy, meditative riffs and a thundering rhythm section with psychedelic flourishes, NORSKA prove they are true masters of their craft.  The full album is currently available for streaming via NORSKA’s official Bandcamp page and is available for purchase here.

ZOZOBRA: To Enter The Studio; Record First Material in 4 Years!

Zozobra band picBoston hardcore experimentalists ZOZOBRA are set to enter the studio next month to begin recording their highly anticipated new mini-LP.  They band will head to Translator Audio in Brooklyn, NY to begin tracking with engineer Andrew Schneider (UNSANE, PELICAN), with a fall release date planned on Brutal Panda Records.  ZOZOBRA mastermind Caleb Scofield (CAVE IN, OLD MAN GLOOM) had this to say about the new material, their first in four years:
“This release is shaping up to be one of the more focused, cut throat group of songs to be heard from this band. Drawing heavily on a more punk and hardcore influence, the mid tempo heady riffage has been replaced with angry, driving thrash and ear splitting sonics that take far less time and effort at getting to the point.”
